After drawing the shape, the block must be cut out on the bandsaw and trimmed to take full advantage of the grain. |
The block must be marked with precision for the drilling and turning operations that are to follow. At this point one starts to get a better sense of what mouthpiece will be appropriate for the pipe. |

At this point an appropriate size drill bit is chosen in proportion to the pipes wall thickness and overall design. The tobacco bowl is then bored to the correct depth. |
