After drawing the shape, the block must be cut
out on the bandsaw and trimmed to take full
advantage of the grain.

The block must be marked with precision
for the drilling and turning operations that
are to follow. At this point one starts to get
a better sense of what mouthpiece will be
appropriate for the pipe.

At this point an appropriate size drill bit
is chosen in proportion to the pipes wall
thickness and overall design. The tobacco
bowl is then bored to the correct depth.
